Hi, my name is Ríonagh. I am currently studying Actuarial Mathematics at DCU, where I achieved First Class Honours across all my exams. I also achieved 625 points in my Leaving Certificate. I am proud to be one of the 38 Naughton Scholars chosen for my year. The Naughton Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship awarded to students in recognition of their performance in STEM subjects.There is at least one winner from each County in the Republic of Ireland. The scholarship is intended as a reward and encouragement to exceptional students who would like to study in the STEM field (science, technology, engineering and maths) at University. Additionally, I have always had a keen interest in the field, even completing the Early Entrance to University programme at DCU for Maths and Engineering and graduating with first class honours results during transition year. I have experience tutoring students of all levels across both the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate cycles. My aim when teaching is to remove the stigma around maths and help students become confident and proficient in their exam techniques. I break down mathematical concepts step-by-step to cater to each student’s pace and ensure a comprehensive understanding. Often, the struggle in maths exams isn’t just the calculations, but the wording of the questions themselves. Because of this, I focus not only on the core calculation skills but also on teaching students how to read and break down exam questions effectively.
