Safeguarding Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

MyGrinds Ireland is operated by The MGI Academy Limited. The safety and wellbeing of students and tutors using our Platform is important to us.

This policy explains MyGrinds Ireland’s role in safeguarding and the responsibilities of tutors, parents and students when using the Platform.

Our Role

MyGrinds Ireland provides a platform that introduces students and parents to independent, self-employed tutors.

MyGrinds Ireland:

– Does not provide tutoring directly
– Does not supervise or monitor lessons
– Does not control tutors’ teaching methods or lesson environments
– Reviews tutor applications, conducts interviews and academically assesses tutors before approving their listing
– Takes safeguarding concerns reported to us seriously
– May suspend or remove tutors from the Platform where we consider this appropriate

Tutors provide their tutoring services directly to their clients and manage their own lessons and teaching arrangements.

Tutor Responsibilities

Tutors using MyGrinds Ireland must:

– Communicate professionally and appropriately
– Maintain appropriate boundaries with students
– Respect and protect student privacy
– Use appropriate language and behaviour
– Conduct lessons in an appropriate and professional manner
– Communicate appropriately with parents or guardians where a student is a minor
– Raise relevant concerns with a parent or guardian where appropriate
– Comply with applicable laws and safeguarding obligations relevant to their tutoring activities

Parent and Student Responsibilities

Parents and students should:

– Ensure lessons take place in an appropriate environment
– Maintain appropriate oversight of lessons involving minors
– Communicate clearly with tutors about learning requirements and arrangements
– Exercise their own judgement when selecting and engaging a tutor
– Report safeguarding or conduct concerns to MyGrinds Ireland promptly

Parents and guardians retain control over their child’s tutoring arrangements and should maintain an appropriate level of oversight based on their child’s age and circumstances.

Garda Vetting and Tutor Information

MyGrinds Ireland interviews and academically assesses each new tutor before approving their listing.

However, MyGrinds Ireland does not represent that tutors listed on the Platform have been Garda vetted.

Tutors remain responsible for the accuracy of qualifications, experience, references and other information they provide.

Parents and guardians should consider any checks or information they consider appropriate when deciding whether to engage a tutor.

If a Concern Is Raised

If a safeguarding or conduct concern is brought to our attention, MyGrinds Ireland may:

– Temporarily suspend a tutor’s access to the Platform
– Request information or clarification from those involved
– Review the tutor’s continued suitability for listing on the Platform
– Suspend or permanently remove a tutor from the Platform where appropriate
– Take other action where required by applicable law

The action taken will depend on the nature and circumstances of the concern.

Lessons and External Communication

MyGrinds Ireland does not routinely monitor or observe tutoring lessons or private communications between tutors and clients.

Tutors and clients may communicate using external services such as email, telephone, SMS, WhatsApp or video-conferencing platforms. These communications take place outside the MyGrinds Ireland Platform.

Where a concern relating to a tutor listed on MyGrinds Ireland is reported to us, we may nevertheless consider that information when deciding whether the tutor should remain on the Platform.
