I am in my third year of studying Actuarial and Financial Studies in UCD, where I am maintaining a GPA just below 4.1/4.2. I got 8 H1s in my Leaving Certificate in 2024, including 100% in six subjects. I have taught grinds for the last two years and have taught one-to-one classes to many different Leaving Cert and Junior Cert students in Irish, Maths and Applied Maths.
My approach involves making sure the student actually understands the concepts behind the material as I believe that makes it easier to understand and then use in an exam. I also focus on exam papers as the Leaving Cert examinations are very repetitive.
Over the last two years I have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from my students. I taught a student weekly for two years in Applied Maths, and I was his sole tutor (he had no teacher in school), and he received a H1 in the subject this August. Many of my other students have told me about significant improvements in their grades.
Continuing on, I got 100% in Leaving Cert Applied Maths, Maths and Irish. I went to a Gaelscoil and I went to the Gaeltacht twice once in Dingle and once in Galway, so I spent around two months all together immersed in the language over those summers. I also received an award from the State Exam Commission for writing the best Irish essay in the country that year, and I still have all the notes/sample essays I used for preparing for the essay question.
I would say I am actually more proficient in Maths and Applied Maths given the focus of my degree. I think my student getting a H1 from just one hour of classes a week with me for two years speaks volumes about my teaching ability paired with hard work.
I provide focused advice, homework and exam corrections, and H1 quality notes in 8 subjects free of charge. I encourage all my students to contact me whenever they want if they need help with anything.
