Experience

Primary School English Support – Transition Year During Transition Year, I volunteered in a local primary school, supporting pupils around the age of 10 with English pronunciation, vocabulary and reading. I spent one hour each week working with pupils as they read their class novels, helping them develop their pronunciation, expand their vocabulary and build confidence in reading aloud. This gave me valuable experience working directly with younger students and adapting my approach to different levels of confidence and ability. English Language Support – Montpellier, France While living in Montpellier, I helped a French friend with English writing, supporting her with written accuracy, vocabulary and phrasing. This gave me experience explaining aspects of English to a French speaker and developing a clear and patient approach to language learning.

Clodagh Crowley

Hi, I’m Clodagh!

I am a 2:1 BA Arts International graduate from University College Cork, specialising in English and French. I have a particular interest in literature, especially Shakespeare, and my degree allowed me to study a wide range of English literature from Medieval and Renaissance literature through to modern and contemporary works.

As part of my degree, I spent two semesters living and studying in Montpellier, France, at Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University. I studied French and English literature, with almost all of my classes taught entirely through French. Living and studying in France strengthened my spoken French and gave me the opportunity to use the language every day, both academically and socially.

I offer Higher Level Leaving Certificate English and French grinds, with lessons tailored to each student’s individual needs. In English, I can help with essay planning and structure, poetry, Shakespeare, Comparative Study, comprehension and exam technique. In French, I can support students with oral preparation, grammar, written production, comprehension, translation and past-paper practice.

My aim is to make lessons focused and supportive while helping students build their confidence, strengthen their understanding of the course and develop practical strategies for the Leaving Certificate exam.
